It’s okay not to be okay uses personal storytelling to create safe spaces for participants to learn about mental health in an interactive, accessible and safe way.

They do this by sharing their lived experience to reduce stigma and normalise mental health problems and seeking help.

All workshops follow evidence based mental health frameworks and focus on sharing resources and all of our team members have completed LivingWorks training by Lifeworks.

Participants walk away with an understanding about the difference between mental health and mental ill health, how you can improve your mental health and what professional supports are available.

Our Mission

It’s Okay not to be Okay’s mission is to advocate and create change in mental health, grief and suicide prevention.

Primary Schools

The aim of our workshops is to build mental health literacy, resilience and equip students with a tool kit to deal with tough times. An early intervention primary school workshop aimed at grade fives and six students.

The workshop runs for one hour and covers;
What is a feeling and emotion?

What is mental health?

What impacts our mental health?

And tools to cope during tough times.

This workshop is capped at a maximum of thirty students in order for us to provide the most engaging experience.

Testimonials

It’s okay not to be okay tailored their presentation to an educational setting, finding ways to relate to our primary school experiences and incorporate humour!
The mindfulness session at the end was incredibly calming and peaceful, which often in schools we don’t find the time to indulge in these types of moments, but are so crucially important. Staff came away with various strategies for dealing with stress and also identified areas in their own lives where they could possibly make some positive change to nurture their own mental health. I highly recommend providing your staff with the opportunity to hear from the “It’s okay not to be okay” team – you won’t regret it!!

Thank you for bringing your It’s Okay to Not Be Okay presentation to our workplace last Friday. As a business, we find it very important for mental health to be openly discussed. Our staff got a lot out of it, finding it to be a very positive experience. The practical advice on where you can seek support and assistance if it’s required was a great take away for everyone. I highly recommend this for other businesses who wish to support their staff

“The workshop run by the girls from It’s okay not to be okay was fantastic! They created a safe environment and tailored the session perfectly to our workplace. I loved how they provided ideas on how to create a mentally health workplace and helped build our mental health literacy. My favourite part was the breathing/ muscle relaxation activity we did at the end. It was a lovely way to end such a beautiful session. Thank you girls and keep up the great work”

“ I learnt today that what is going on someone’s face isn’t always the same as what’s going on in their mind”

“Mental Health wellbeing in the Workplace is now receiving the priority it should and we were seeking speakers who would connect with our group of over 100 construction workers...
The group were generous with their time and stayed back after the session assisting enquiries as we know some guys don’t like asking questions in front of a group. “It’s Okay not to be Okay” was warmly received by our team and their friendly, professional approach will assist your work groups. I strongly recommend you give the team a call, to help persons, who may not know how to seek help”
